We are currently celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month at all of our schools. National Hispanic Heritage Month runs from September 15th – October 15th. On September 15th, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, and Nicaraqua all celebrate their independence. Mexico celebrates its independence on the 16th while Chile celebrates its independence on the 18th of September.

During this time, we will be celebrating Hispanics who have made an impact on our country, as well as celebrating all the many cultures. Our schools will be doing a variety of activities from cooking demonstrations, making piñatas, to learning about important historical figures.

National Hispanic Heritage Month began under President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1968 and expanded to a full month under President Ronald Reagan in 1988.  You can learn more about National Hispanic Heritage Month at http://hispanicheritagemonth.gov.
